Govert Derix

Contributor

Govert Derix is a dutch writer, philosopher and consultant. He published on many subjects, including philosophy, the Amazon, architecture, management and sustainability.

As a novellist he was praised for his novel Sterrenmoord (‘Star Slaugther’) in which humanity is confronted with the disappearance of all the stars. And for Gods Geschenk (‘Gods Gift’), on the birth of an economics based on internalizing all ‘externalities’.

In his novel De sjamaan van Sevilla (‘The shaman from Seville’) he introduces a Telescope of Life, which makes all life in the cosmos visible for the human eye.

His last novel is titled Mensheid is een brief aan jou (‘Humanity is a letter to you’), a heartbreaking story about what might happen when our civilisations pass the point of no return. His anti-novel De wereldomwandelaar (‘The man who walked the world around’, on the discovery of the Theory of Everything and the construction of an Observatory of Self near Santiago de Compostela) was called a new Jules Verne.

With dutch governor Léon Frissen he wrote books on the future of Europe (‘Eurosofie’) and the Rhenish Model. With mayor Petra Dassen he published a book on happiness.

Derix was nominated for the dutch Socrates Prize and is a friend of the Beethoven Haus in Bonn. He feels at home in Maastricht, Brussels and Brazil.
